Winter Hares
Ahmed Farooqui, installation, 420cmx240cm These colourful heraldic creatures were made to keep watch over our neighbourhood during the Covid Lockdown of Winter 2020 , reminding us that however dreary the winter, sun and spring will return. Why hares? They are ambivalent creatures that feature in myths across the world, associated with the ending of the year, the waning of the moon, but also with beginnings and rebirth, moving by moonlight between the human world and that of the gods. Thanks to Alan for construction and technical support, Jenny Nash & Lizzie Brown for some of the photography. |
